The Beatles

The Beatles" är troligen den populäraste musikgruppen som nĺgonsin existerat. Gruppen bestod av fyra medlemmar, alla födda och uppväxta i Liverpool: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison och Ringo Starr.
I mars 1957 bildade John Lennon gruppen "The Quarry Men", och senare samma ĺr erbjöd träffade han Paul McCartney och frĺgade ifall han ville vara med i gruppen. 1958 anslöt sig George Harrison medan gruppens övriga medlemmar varierade. Inspirerade av samtida musiker som Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly och The Everly Brothers sĺ började Lennon och McCartney tidigt skriva lĺtar tillsammans. En stor del av de lĺtar som gruppen framförde var därför egna kompositioner, nĺgot som var ovanligt pĺ den tiden.
Gruppens namn ändrades flitigt under de första ĺren (Silver Beatles). Men frĺn och med 1960 sĺ var det det dubbeltydiga namnet Beatles som gällde. Namnet kommer av orden beat(=lĺt) och beetles (=skalbagge).
Ĺren 1960-62 spelade Beatles pĺ olika klubbar i Liverpool (bl.a. "The Cavern") och i Hamburg. Gruppens första skivinspelning gjorde de tillsammans med Tony Sheridan i Hamburg 1961, dĺ de framförde My Bonnie.
